"Molly" - Rottweiller puppy - Vaccination

Polio, hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever, tetanus, diphtheria, rabies, tuberculosis and meningococcal meningitis are a few of the delightful diseases which I may encounter later in the year on my fishing trip down the Zambezi river!

Fortunately, for me there are available very effective vaccinations against each and every one of the aforementioned debilitating and sometimes fatal conditions.

Whilst the likelihood of me catching every single disease mentioned would be extremely unlucky, even for me, the fact that there is a very simple option of avoiding the possibility of contracting the associated hideous symptoms means that I will be making an appointment to see my doctor very soon! I am in no doubt that the prospect of me being punctured by a needle will make many of my patients prick their ears with interest.

In the meantime, I shall continue to be on the right side of the syringe administering the same quality of vaccines to "Molly", an 8 week old Rottweiller puppy, in an effort to ensure that she remains healthy in the years ahead.

Whilst Molly may not be heading to Zambia the fact that over 50% of the pet population are inadequately protected, for one reason or another, means that there are plenty of hosts for these viral diseases to continue to maintain a real threat.

The Rottweiller breed was identified as being particularly susceptible to canine parvovirus enteritis causing fatal bloody diarrhoea. It is only with the development of the latest biotechnology that current immunisations are both safe and effective when stored and administered correctly.

My only hope is that I too will receive a nice treat from the nurse when I get my needle just like Molly did when she got hers!
